Community solar is made possible through the Oregon Community Solar Program. This legislature passed in 2016 built a regulatory framework for developers to build solar farms and connect residents and businesses to them ensuring consumer protection and reliability.
Cascadia Community Energy is an approved Oregon Community Solar Program Subscription Manager. This means that we participate under the regulatory framework overseen by the Public Utility Commission in Oregon.
We hold ourselves to a high standard working with people and our business partners. This was made official when we were accredited by the Better Business Bureau in 2026. To be accredited means your business upholds the following tenets:

Oregon Business For Climate is a league of Oregon businesses that share alignment with OB4C’s mission: “to advance urgent, ambitious, equitable climate policies and programs designed to help spur innovation and economic opportunity while effectively and responsibly reducing emissions.”

The Oregon Solar + Storage Industries Association is a trade association founded in 1981 to promote clean, renewable, solar and storage technologies. OSSIA members include businesses, non-profit groups, and other solar and storage industry stakeholders.
OSSIA supports a progressive legislative and regulatory structure that fosters the development of solar and storage technologies as well as efficient and effective installation of residential, commercial, community and utility solar and storage projects.
Cascadia is proud and tenured members and works with OSSIA on Oregon Solar legislation.

Our Founder
I'm Jonathan Nelson, founder of Cascadia Community Energy. Born in Portland and raised in Wilsonville, I'm excited for the opportunity to expand customer choice for clean energy in my home state with Community Solar! A little about me:
• My maternal grandmother was a poet and the first woman mayor of Milwaukie, Oregon in the 70's.
• I caught my first king salmon bobber fishing with my dad on the Wilson River when I was 4 years old. It was 45 pounds and broke the pole.
• I played football and lacrosse at Wilsonville High School and was part of the team that won Wilsonville's first OSAA football championship at Autzen Stadium in 2004.
• I've been developing community-scale solar projects in Oregon since 2017.
